Anita Gridley
Anita Gridley was born in San Francisco, CA, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She comes to OUJC with a long-term interest in the labor movement, starting with her childhood. Her maternal grandfather was a postal clerk with the United States Postal Service, who traveled to all the states to organize for the union. Her step-grandfather, father, and brother were longshoremen for many years, all of them retiring with superior benefits. Her childhood upbringing shaped her working-class values.
Anita has worked at the California Nurses Association for a total of 22 years as a secretary, where she has provided support in the day-to-day operations of collective bargaining and has assisted in many events and campaigns. Additionally, Anita has served on various boards including Ashkenaz, a community and dance center in Berkeley, CA; the Staff and Professional Clerical Union, which is the internal union at the California Nurses Association; and on the board of a condominium complex where she lived.
Anita has flown airplanes in the San Francisco Bay area and Jacksonville, FL, studied acting in Hollywood, CA, and enjoys creating art in different mediums.
